Well in this article, we’ll discuss the ways in which you can work with rulers and grids in Photoshop, and the real-life examples of when they might be useful. So how can we integrate them into our routine? Whether you use them to simply centralise a single aspect, or to align hundreds of objects in a piece, rulers and grids are guaranteed to become a staple part of every designer’s creative process at some point. They allow you to align visual elements and place components at regular intervals, and they don’t show up when printing or exporting a document, which is a handy bonus when it comes to displaying both printed files and exported files on screen. To show Rulers in your Photoshop Document you can either go to Menu > View > Rulers, or simply use the shortcut CMD+R (Mac) or CTRL+R (Windows) To remove the ruler from your design, simply go to the top menu and click on the “ Clear” button.Utilising grids, guides and rulers in Photoshop is a great way in which you can quickly and easily improve the compositions of your pieces. Playable modes include the typical deathmatch and team deathmatch, as well as a mode called sabotage, in which spies may attempt to interrogate fallen foes for a code to sabotage the enemy base. The matches we did get into felt laggy, meandering, and unfocused, lending themselves to lots of sniping. During a week's worth of attempts, we found only small handfuls of players on any of the given versions of the game. But good luck finding people to play with. You can theoretically get up to 16 players going on the PC or in a system link match on the Xbox, though the console versions are normally limited to an eight-player limit. In addition to the single-player campaign, Commandos Strike Force offers an online multiplayer mode that's roughly the same on the PC, Xbox, and the PlayStation 2. ![]() although brute force most times works better. You can save anywhere, which will compel you to take a trial-and-error approach in each new situation. However, some missions force you to avoid detection, requiring you to slowly inch your way through a level you know you could probably just blast your way through if only the game let you. Combine that with lousy, slow-on-the-draw enemy artificial intelligence, and you'll find that brute force rather than tactical prowess tends to be the path of least resistance through Commandos Strike Force. This is useful while sneaking, but it feels almost like cheating when you're running and gunning, since you'll always know when there's an enemy around the next corner. Meanwhile, a highly convenient radar reveals all foes in the vicinity and often the direction they're looking in. Enemies may be alarmed to find the dead bodies of their comrades, but since bodies simply disappear after a little while, this isn't much of a concern - just another knock against its sense of realism. Keep a low profile by crouching, and even enemies looking straight at you will have a hard time seeing you. The game's modelling of stealth is fairly simplistic, as you can just walk right up to an unsuspecting enemy as long as he's not looking your way. This stuff may be conceptually interesting, but the quality of the underlying action isn't particularly impressive. The Green Beret is a pretty generic gunner, the sniper's long-range rifle and throwing knives make him quite different, and the spy is able to take uniforms from dead enemies and infiltrate their ranks - he just needs to watch out for the piercing gaze of high-ranking enemy officers. You can choose to be stealthy in Commandos Strike Force.Īt least the characters play fairly distinctly. These missions feel like your average first-person shooter levels. The presentation isn't particularly compelling either, especially on the console versions, which look really bland. But larger missions are divided up into multiple smaller zones, which diminishes the sense that you're deep behind enemy lines. The missions themselves still sometimes have an open-ended feel, such that you may have multiple objectives you can tackle in any order. Here you just tend to control one or two of these soldiers in a given mission, sneaking your way past Nazis or killing them in droves. However, the game loses its predecessors' sense of you having to coordinate a complex invasion. For example, the sniper is also an expert with deadly throwing knives and happens to be a great swimmer, so he's like a cross between a sniper and a Marine. These guys combine some of the abilities of the other Commandos characters. ![]() In Strike Force, there are just three characters forming the squad (and they're nobody Commandos fans will recognise): a Green Beret, a sniper, and a spy. In the previous games, you'd get to control a squad of specialised soldiers who could spread out to assault and sabotage huge Nazi compounds. The transition from strategy game to shooter has also served to limit the scope of Commandos Strike Force. ![]() This power fantasy story stands out in the genre due its massive cast, intricate world building, and strategic conflict. I'd say the world building and the character design itself is good and if you are a fan of power-trips, this light novel is definitely for you. There have been numerous isekai series over the past few years, and among the most popular of them is Overlord. The main character is described as acting only with his own interests in mind and that is a trait that can really make a character deep.īut does the author really need to fill prologues/epilogues with these words over and over again in order for the reader to get it? ![]() The MC simply starts at the top and stays there. The MC goes against his traits and does irrational things just to have more power-trips (a.k.a. There is almost no character development and ironically the antagonists get most of it. Just like in many works with an overpowered main character, the focus shifts away from the MC. Now repeat this over and over again with different characters and minor variations and you can see how it This new character then goes on to have a power-trip destroying the good (or bad) guys until he is met with a similar fate. It goes something like this: a new character is introduced. ![]() Its only goal is to create as many of them as possible.Įvery character has a set place in this hierarchy and on top of it is our main character Ainz. The story is based on what I like to call the pyramid of power-trips. You can describe this light novel with one word: a power-trip. Overall this is definitely one of my favorite reads and is definitely a great piece of fiction. While this novel is not primarily an action novel, when there are fights with the main characters and the world, It always is amazing. ![]() The world building in this show is absolutely amazing and detailed. Of course the protagonist isn’t evil or not even cut out to be an “OVERLORD” that his subordinates see him as, so he mostly goes along with whatever his subordinates think, and because his subordinates are all evil, this isn’t very good for the people of this new world. Now in this actual real fantasy medieval world, it shows what happens when an evil force threatens the world and how the characters react and deal with these unstoppable beings that appeared. The guild and Ainz were known for being an unstoppable force in game and no one would try to attack them. So the NPC`s are all loyal to the “supreme being” that is Ainz. When the NPC’s get transported with him, they gain their own consciousness but take after their fake backstory that was written in game. A synopsis of this show would be the protagonist is spending their last day inside a D&D futuristic type game, but during the closing hours of the final moments of the game, the protagonist Ainz gets transported to a very real medieval fantasy type parallel world as his game character (an elder lich skeleton) and his game guild base and loyal NPC’s get transported along with him. The world building and characters in OVERLORD go in depth and are entertaining to the point you could sit there and read these characters doing nothing for an hour but talk and it would still be interesting seeing them interact with one another. I need to see stuff playing like shows, movies, or at the very least visual comics, or so I thought because when reading the actual source materials for these shows I was very engrossed into everything and everything is more in The main reason I don’t like reading is because I don’t really have the most patient attention span. But when you watch a show that is so good and enjoyable you want to read the source material. In general reading isn’t something I like all too much. There are plenty of vegetarian protein sources too: you’ll find tons of protein in chickpeas, soybeans, and tofu, to name just a few sources. Still, it emphasizes that tracking carbohydrate intake is very important if you think that insulin and blood sugar have to do with obesity, weight gain, and fat mass. Now, this theory is not without its critics, as indicated by a counterpoint article published by Kevin Hall and other researchers at the National Institute of Diabetes and Columbia University ( 2 ). According to this theory, hunger and overeating aren’t the cause of obesity-they’re a symptom. This vicious cycle, according to researchers like Ludwig, explains many facets of obesity in a new light. The result is that, a few hours after a carbohydrate-rich meal (especially if it’s mostly refined carbs), blood sugar crashes, body fat increases, and you get hungry again. This theory states that excessive carbohydrate consumption causes a spike in insulin, which in turn causes your body to pull blood sugar out of the blood and store it as fat. ![]() Not all carbs are created equal, but emerging research suggests that refined carbohydrates (like white flour or white rice) behave a lot like sugars when it comes to determining your body’s response, so lumping them into the same category is starting to make more sense.Īccording to the “carbohydrate-insulin model of obesity”, advocated by researchers like David Ludwig at the New Balance Foundation Obesity Prevention Center at Boston Children’s Hospital, carbohydrates are at the heart of fat gain ( 1).
